In Shibganj, Chapainawabganj, a program has begun to distribute seeds and chemical fertilizers free of cost to 11,870 small and marginal farmers to increase the cultivation and production of wheat, mustard, winter onions, peanuts, lentils, khesari, and arhar crops.
The program was inaugurated on Tuesday morning by Upazila Executive Officer Md. Azahar Ali, who joined virtually at the Farmer Training Hall, organized by the Upazila Department of Agricultural Extension.
Present at the event were Assistant Commissioner (Land) Toufiq Aziz, Upazila Agriculture Officer Nayon Mia, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Sanjay Kumar Sarkar, and other officials.
Under the Rabi season incentive program for the 2025-26 fiscal year, seeds and chemical fertilizers are being provided to 4,200 mustard farmers, 7,000 wheat farmers, 50 peanut farmers, 100 winter onion farmers, 200 lentil farmers, 300 khesari farmers, and 20 arhar farmers.
