BJA Election held peacefully

The election of the Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Jute Association (BJA) for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 terms was held peacefully.

Voting began simultaneously at the BJA offices in Narayanganj and Daulatpur, Khulna, on Saturday at 10 a.m. It continued until 1 p.m., paused for a lunch break, and resumed from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

According to the BJA Election Board, a total of 317 voters were eligible to cast their ballots this year.

Among them, 255 voted at the BJA office in Daulatpur, Khulna, while the remaining 62 cast their votes at the Narayanganj office. Two panels contested in this election.

One panel was led by Khandaker Alamgir Hossain and Tipu Sultan.
The candidates of this panel were Md. Tarek Afzal, Md. Tipu Sultan, Khandaker Alamgir Kabir, HM Prince Mahmud, Khairuzzaman, SM Saiful Islam Piyash, Badrul Alam Markin, Shamim Ahmed, SM Hafizur Rahman, Sheikh Imam Hossain, and Md. Kutub Uddin.

The rival panel was led by BM Asif HossainAlam and Mahmudur Rahman. The candidates of this panel included Arju Rahman Bhuiyan, Md. Mahmudur Rahman Mahmud, FM Saifuzzaman, BM Asif Hossain Alam, SM Moniruzzaman Palash, Gazi Shariful Islam, Md Jamal Hossain, SK Wahiduzzaman Mithun, Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury, Abul Kalam Azad, and JamshedKabir.

Out of the 317 general members, 12 will be elected under the ordinary category. Meanwhile, six associate members have already been elected unopposed.

Later, the president will be elected through votes cast by both ordinary and associate members.
