Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain, ndc, afwc, psc, G, MPhil assumed charge on Wendesday as the 18th Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA). He joins the Chief Adviser’s Office in this capacity. He succeeds Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, BSP, ndc, psc.
Before this appointment, Major General Moazzem Hossain served as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 7th Infantry Division and Area Commander, Barishal Area.
Commissioned in the Corps of Artillery on 20 December 1992, Major General Hossain has held a variety of command, staff, and instructional roles. His service record includes commanding two artillery brigades and two artillery regiments, serving as Platoon Commander at Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA), working as Colonel Staff of a division, and acting as Director of Budget at Army Headquarters.
He is an alumnus of the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Mirpur, and completed both the National Defence Course (ndc) and Armed Forces War Course (afwc) at the National Defence College (NDC), Mirpur, Dhaka. He also underwent advanced military training abroad, including at the Nanjing Artillery Academy (China) and the School of Artillery (Pakistan).
On the academic front, Major General Hossain holds an MPhil from Bangladesh University of Professionals and is currently pursuing a PhD from the University of Dhaka.
