AL organizing secy arrested

Police have arrested Towajidul Haque Tuhin (45), former Chairman of Lalabazar Union Parishad and Organizing Secretary of South Surma Upazila Awami League, in a case filed in connection with the attack on the anti-discrimination student movement.

He was arrested from his house in Karsna village of South Surma Upazila of Sylhet at around 6:30 am on Thursday.

This information was confirmed by Officer-in-Charge (OC) of South Surma Police Station Md. Mijanu Rahman.

He said that Towajidul Haque Tuhin was removed from the post of UP Chairman last month. In his absence, an administrator has already been appointed in Lalabazar Union.

There are also six previous murder and explosive cases filed against Tuhin, which were filed after the fall of the Awami League government, police said.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of SMP (Media) Mohammad Saiful Islam said that information has been received about six cases against Tuhin.
