BGB inaugurates BOP in Mirersarai

A new BOP named ‘Chhota Faringa’ has been inaugurated in the remote border area surrounded by hills and forests of Karerhat in Mirerersarai upazila of Chattogram under the 43 BGB Battalion of Ramgarh, Khagrachhari.

On Sunday, Brigadier General Sohel Ahmed, PBGM, PSC Region Commander BGB’s Chattogram South East Region inaugurated the BOP as the chief guest.

At the inauguration ceremony, he told reporters, a plan has been taken to establish two new battalions of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to protect the remote and unprotected border areas of the Chattogram Hill Tracts.

30 BOPs will be established under these two battalions. The final approval for the implementation of this plan is awaited from the concerned ministry.

He said that if two new battalions are established in the remote and unprotected border areas of the hilly districts under the South-East Region, it will be possible to ensure the security of the vast remote border area.

He said that with the establishment of the Chhota Faringa BOP under the 43rd Battalion of Ramgarh, this vast border area, which was largely unprotected for a long time, has now been secured.
The operational activities of the BGB will be more dynamic, including the security of the residents of the border area.

This will make it possible to prevent drug and illegal arms trafficking, smuggling and border crimes.

The Sector Commander of the BGB Guimara Sector, Colonel Md. Mizanur Rahman, PSC, G and the Commander of 43 BGB, Lt. Colonel Md. Ahsan ul Islam, PSC, were present at the inauguration ceremony.
