“We will not respond to those who abuse us” – Nurul Islam Saddam
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former Member of Parliament Mia Golam Porwar has said that Jamaat-e-Islami has made full electoral preparations by nominating candidates in all 300 constituencies for the upcoming national parliamentary elections.
He called upon every party activist to enter the electoral field with full strength and work tirelessly.
He said, “This is the most opportune time to send religion to the National Parliament. Those who were once involved in student politics must now become active again and play their role for the country.”
He made these remarks on Friday morning while addressing as chief guest at the Khulna Metropolitan Islami Chhatra Shibir Members’ Reunion (1977-2025) held at Al Faruq Society auditorium under Sonadanga Police Station. The event was organised under the slogan “In the pull of harmony, back to our roots”.
In an emotion-filled speech, Mia Golam Porwar recalled memories of past student leaders from Khulna Aminul Islam Biman, Munshi Abdul Halim, Amanullah Aman, Sheikh Rahmat Ali, Abul Kashem Pathan and journalist Sheikh Belal Uddin – saying that their sacrifices and contributions remain a shining chapter in the political history of the country. The audience was visibly moved as he reminisced.

Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar further said, “The national election is approaching. Jamaat has already nominated candidates in all 300 constituencies.
Now we must take decisions – how long before the polls we can take leave from work and return to our constituencies. This is the crucial moment for decision-making.
The Ameer of Jamaat has said that in the past 54 years Muslims have never had such an unprecedented opportunity to take the strength of the Islamic movement into Parliament. We do not know if such an opportunity will ever come again.
The fascists tried to bury us in the ground, but Allah placed them in their own pit and raised the Islamic movement to a position of dignity.
Ahead of the election, we must prepare ourselves mentally to accept organisational decisions, whatever they may be.
Our sacrifice must not be for an individual brother’s victory but for the victory of our movement as a whole.”
In his keynote address, Islami Chhatra Shibir Central Secretary General Nurul Islam Saddam said, “Once, we did not even have the opportunity to stand at Dhaka University.
Today, Allah has given us the chance to be part of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU). In many universities, others cannot even form a panel, yet we have succeeded.
Jahangirnagar University, which was once the breeding ground of the leftists, is now a place where, Alhamdulillah, Allah has granted us remarkable opportunities.
We must preserve these achievements and remain humble, without arrogance.
Allah has directly forbidden idle talk or unnecessary actions. Those who engage in pointless debates on Facebook must refrain.
We believe that no responsible leader of our organisation does this, though some who are no longer in touch with the organisation may act emotionally. Whoever abuses us, we shall not respond. Abuse can never be a response.
Looking ahead to the national election, he added, “We now have opportunities in constituencies that we could never have imagined before.
We have never seen such a large-scale mobilisation. We firmly believe that we will secure at least 160 seats. In the past, we had 18, at most 50. Alhamdulillah, this mobilisation is far greater now.”
