She is always smiling at concerts or on the red carpet. She fills everyone around her with a bright smile.

There were also dark chapters in Madonna’s life. Recently, on the On Purpose with Joy Shetty podcast, the American singer known as the Queen of Pop said that life had once become so unbearable for her that she considered suicide.

In this podcast, Madonna talks about various chapters of her life for over two hours.

She talks in detail about how she got through that difficult time amidst the strained relationship with her family, how she devoted herself to spirituality; she talks about everything.

Madonna split from film director Guy Ritchie in 2008. In 2016, when the couple’s son Rocco was 16, the artist was involved in a legal battle over custody of the child.

Rocco moved to live with his father in London. Madonna was desperate to regain custody of her son. That time was very difficult for her.

Madonna said, “The custody battle was the most painful time of my life. I didn’t see any hope. There were times when I wanted to cut off my own hands, commit suicide.”

The Queen of Pop added, “My family life didn’t work out. Not many do. We get involved with the wrong people a lot of the time. But when they were trying to take my son away from me, it felt like someone was trying to kill me.”

She said, “I would often lie on the dressing room floor and cry. I had to go on stage for concerts almost every night. I felt like my life’s journey was over. I couldn’t take it anymore.”
