‘Heart attack, biggest cause of human death’

Chattagram Divisional Health Director Dr. Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said that heart attack is one of the biggest causes of human death in the world.
Among non-communicable diseases, heart disease is taking a terrible shape worldwide.

The risk of heart disease is increasing due to smoking, uncontrolled lifestyle and lack of walking. Heart attack or heart disease is responsible for one-third of deaths in the world.

Heart attack or heart disease has now become a very common occurrence in Bangladesh too. To prevent heart attack, one should change one’s diet and exercise regularly, be aware of this and make others aware.

He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at a scientific seminar organised by the Cardiology Department of the 250-bed General Hospital in Chattagram on the occasion of World Heart Day on Monday.

The theme of the day this time was – ‘May your heart beat in rhythm’.
World Heart Day was celebrated by cutting a cake at the seminar.
To mark the day, a mini marathon and a colorful rally were organized in the morning before the seminar.

The seminar was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Md. Ekram Hossain, Superintendent (Acting) of Chattagram 250-bed General Hospital and eminent cardiologist, and conducted by Dr. Md. Imtiaz Uddin, Junior Consultant of the Cardiology Department, with Chattagram District Civil Surgeon Dr. Jahangir Alam as the special guest.
