Man beaten up in Savar

A person named Swapan Mia was seriously injured in a one-sided attack on a drain construction site in Savar Sadar Union and is undergoing treatment at the Upazila Health Complex.

The injured Swapan alleged that a family was cutting down trees and constructing a drain on my land. Chairman Arif told me, “This is government work, who are you to obstruct?

Swapan further alleged to this reporter that when I asked to see the documents, Chairman Arif threatened me and said, “I will construct the drain.

If you go there and obstruct, I will beat you up and break your leg.”

Then I told him, “Brother, this is my father’s and grandfather’s land!” If I don’t let them take the drain over my grandparents’ land, then no one will be able to take it.

If it was a government project, there would be no problem, I wouldn’t have blocked it.

This is a private project, I won’t let them take it. After saying such things, he left and sent 3/4 people. The chairman’s driver and his cousins are always giving me a pipe.

On the other hand, acting chairman Arif Madbar claimed, “Swapan will not allow drainage on the government road where we are doing drainage.
