Abdul Hakim Chowdhury, former Vice President of Sylhet District BNP and former Chairman of Gowainghat Upazila Parishad, has said that BNP has always upheld the values of communal harmony and peaceful coexistence among all religious communities in Bangladesh.

Speaking as the chief guest at a views-exchange meeting organized by Gowainghat Upazila BNP with leaders of the local Hindu community on Tuesday afternoon, he said, “Bangladesh has a proud and long-standing tradition of religious harmony.

BNP is a political party that deeply believes in and works to uphold communal harmony.

We have stood by our Hindu brothers and sisters in the past and will continue to do so in the future.”

He also urged BNP leaders and activists, including members of affiliated and associate bodies, to remain vigilant during the Durga Puja festival.

“No vested quarter should be allowed to disrupt law and order in the name of religion. BNP must play a responsible role to prevent any such attempt,” he said.

The event, held in Gowainghat, was presided over by Upazila BNP President Mahbub Alam and conducted by General Secretary Jasim Uddin.

Other speakers at the event included M.A. Haque, President of the Gowainghat Upazila Muktijoddha Dal; BNP Joint Secretaries Mahbub Ahmed, Monirul Karim Monir, and M.A. Matin; BNP Assistant Organizing Secretary Azadur Rahman; and Karim Mahmud Limon, General Secretary of Gowainghat Press Club.

Leaders of the local Puja Celebration Committee, including Shri Nityanandan Pal and Shri Sukumar Pal, as well as leaders from different union BNP branches, local Hindu community leaders, and BNP’s front and affiliated organizations, were also present.

The gathering was part of BNP’s ongoing initiative to engage with minority communities ahead of the Sharadiya Durga Puja and reinforce a message of unity and peace.
