BNP holds triennial conference

The triennial conference of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Dal (BNP), Kishoreganj district, after a long nine years, re-elected Md.Shariful Alam as President, Mazharul Islam as general secretary respectively.

Joint Secretary of BNP, central executive committee, Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel, formally announced the results after the vote counting on Saturday night at 11.pm.

Shariful Alam won the presidential election by a huge margin with 1,522 votes. His closest rival, Ruhul Hossain, received 197 votes.

On the other hand, Mazharul Islam got 1,159 votes for the post of general secretary. His nearest rival Khaled Saifullah Sohel got 611 votes.

A total of 2,090 councilors from 13 upazilas and 8 municipal committees cast their votes through ballots.

Latet, on Saturday noon, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir inaugurated the conference by playing the national anthem and hoisting the flag at local old stadium ground in the town.

The party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman was virtually present as the chief guest.
