‘We are focusing the equation’

After winning the crucial match against Afghanistan, opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim said, ” We are focusing the equation. We have no regret. Past is past.”

The Tigers defeated Afghanistan by eight runs in their third Group-B match of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Asia Cup at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday night. By virtue of yesterday’s victory, Bangladesh keep their hope alive to play in the ‘Super Four’. The ‘Super Four’ is the second phase of Asia Cup.

Sri Lanka led the points table of the Group-B gaining four points from two matches, while Bangladesh collected four points from three matches. On the other hand, Afghanistan bagged two points from two matches.

Afghanistan will face off Sri Lanka in their last Group-B match at the same venue today.
If Afghanistan lose to Sri Lanka in Thursday’s match, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will play in the ‘Super Four’. Besides, if Afghanistan can post a massive win against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will get the tickets of ‘Super Four’.

Sri Lanka’s net run rate is now (+1.546), while Bangladesh’s net run rate is now (-0.270) and Afghanistan’s net run rate is now (+2.540).

Opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim played the key role to post a satisfactory 154 for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Tanzid Hasan notched up a marvelous 31-ball 54.
Afghanistan were all out for 146 runs. Thus, Bangladesh won the match by eight runs.

Earlier, Bangladesh chased minnows Hong Kong slowly in their first Group-B match. Though the Tigers won the match but if they could earn a fastest win against minnows Hong Kang, Bangladesh have not wait for the match between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.

Tanzid Hasan also said, ” We had a plan to record a big marginal win against Afghanistan. We had also chance to win the match by big margin. If it happened, it would be helpful for our team. But we failed to earn. But we won the our last Group-B match.”

” Every match is important. When we have arrived in the field, we have tried to present our cent percent effort,” he added.
