‘Don’t think of artistes as such sinners,’ Kanak Chapa on Farida Parveen’s departure

Entertainment Report :

Renowned folk singer Farida Parveen passed away on Saturday night after a long illness. As soon as the news of her death spread, singer Kanak Chapa rushed to the hospital that night. There, she remembered the late singer and expressed deep sorrow and regret.

Kanak Chapa said, “Farida Parveen Apa took away the entire space that Lalongeeti had created with her popularity. Those who used to listen to Lalongeeti, used to listen to Farida Apa. Basically, the songs of those who
sing in Lalon’s Akhra are one thing, and Farida Apa’s songs are another.”

The artiste said, “If we just talk about Lalon, she will be belittled. Her voice is impeccable, she has Maya. In a word, Farida Apa’s voice used to touch the heart like an arrow. I grew up seeing a crowded music hall; I am
slowly losing that. We are losing those who were like banyan trees above our heads. We are becoming very helpless.”

However, Kanak Chapa also has some regrets for the common people. She said, “Common people listen to music to make their minds happy. But when an artist dies, they talk a lot about sin and virtue, hell and heaven. When I see those comments, I get scared, we feel very bad.”
