2 including child killed as car rams covered van

Two people, including a 3-year-old girl, have been killed after a car ploughed into a parked covered van in Chattogram.

The accident occurred on Friday morning on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in the Thakur Daghi area of Mirsharai Upazila, police said.

The victims have been identified as Golam Sarwar Mintu, 42, and his daughter Muskan. They were residents of Dhaka’s Uttara.

Inspector Borhan Uddin of the Jorarganj Highway Police Outpost, said that Sarwar was taking his family from Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar for a holiday when the car carrying them crashed into the back of a parked covered van on the road near Thakur Dighi Bazar.

The father and daughter were killed on the spot, but four people, including the driver, Sarwar’s wife, and another child, have been rescued with injuries, reports bdnews24.com.
Inspector Borhan said the bodies have been recovered by the Fire Service, while two of the injured were taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
