Religion Adviser meets Pakistan PM

Religious Affairs Advisor AFM Khalid Hossain met with Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday.

A press statement from the Ministry of Religious Affairs said the meeting took place at the prime minister’s house in Islamabad.

Sharif welcomed the delegation and described the relationship between Pakistan and Bangladesh as rooted in history, culture and friendship, adding that the ties “will further strengthen in the coming days”, according to the statement.

It also added that Sharif referred to his recent meetings with Bangladesh’s chief advisor in New York and Cairo.

He praised Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus for his “visionary leadership” and “contribution to poverty eradication”, while also welcoming his desire to deepen relations between the two countries, reports bdnews24.com.

Khalid handed over a letter from Yunus to the Pakistani prime minister.

In it, the chief advisor expressed sympathy for the government and people of Pakistan over the unprecedented floods there, conveying condolences to the families of victims of the disaster.
