Int’l Literacy Day observed

International Literacy Day–‘ 25 was observed in Kishoreganj on Monday, like many others country across the globe with due dignity and significance.
The theme of the day, set by UNESCO, is “Promoting literacy in the digital era”.
The District Administration including Department of Primary and Mass Education arranged a colour full rally, discussion marking the day.

International Literacy Day (ILD) has been observed globally since 1967, and in independent Bangladesh since 1972, on September 8 every year.
Deputy Commissioner (DC), also Joint Secretary of Kishoreganj, Fouzia Khan attended as chief guest, while ADC (Education & ICT) Jesmin Akhter in the chair.

Civil Surgeon (CS) Dr.Ovijeet Sharma, DPEO MujibAlam and DEO ShamsunnaharMaksudha were also present as special guests.
DC Fouzia Khan said that, literacy is one of the key tools for overcoming various economic, social and political obstacles.

While definition of literacy varies from country, UNESCO introduced a universal definition in1967.
