JCI Bangladesh Launches Nationwide Tree Plantation Campaign

Junior Chamber International (JCI) Bangladesh has launched a nationwide tree plantation initiative, “Green Generation 2.0,” with a target of planting 20,000 trees across the country. The campaign aims to promote environmental sustainability and combat the growing challenges of climate change.

The program was officially inaugurated at JCI Bangladesh headquarters in Gulshan, Dhaka, with a ceremony jointly organized by JCI Dhaka North and JCI Dhaka United, in collaboration with Bonayan and Bloodman.

National President of JCI Bangladesh, Kazi Fahad, planted the first sapling to mark the symbolic start of the campaign. “Environmental sustainability is one of our key commitments at JCI,” he said. “Through this nationwide tree plantation drive, we aim to mobilize communities, empower youth, and create long-term impact that benefits both people and the planet.”

The keynote address was delivered by Mir Mohammad Ali, Assistant Professor at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University and Vice President of JCI Dhaka United, who underlined the importance of afforestation in mitigating climate change and ensuring long-term ecological balance. Over the next few months, the campaign will be rolled out across urban and rural areas in partnership with local government bodies, educational institutions, and community organizations.

JCI Bangladesh will also distribute saplings through partners including BAYLA, BGMEA, and PUSAB. The initiative features awareness programs on climate action and plans to ensure proper maintenance of the planted trees. Speeches were also given by National Vice President Shahriar Hasan Jisun, Adviser to the National President Shezan Azim, Bonayan representative Abu Salman Abdullah, and local chapter presidents Fahmidur Rahman Oni and Sumaiya Haque. All highlighted the role of collective action in protecting the environment.

The initiative aligns with JCI’s global mission of driving positive change and supports Bangladesh’s national goals on climate resilience and sustainable development. JCI Bangladesh, a chapter of Junior Chamber International, is a global network of young active citizens committed to leadership development, community engagement, and impact-driven projects.
