The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed umpire Simon Taufel for two years. Simon Taufel was an umpire of Elite Panel of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The BCB has appointed Simon Taufel to increase the efficiency of the local umpires of Bangladesh.
The Board Meeting of the BCB decided the matter on Monday. The noted umpire Simon Taufel will work with the Bangladeshi umpires, match referees for next two years. Simon Taufel, the Australia-born won the Umpire of the Year of ICC for five consecutive times.
Chairman of the Umpires Committee of the BCB and Director of the BCB Iftekhar Rahman said, ” We have contacted with former Elite Panel Umpire Simon Taufel recently. He has worked for the development of the qualities of the umpires of the different countries. Even he is connected with ICC. We spoke to him for five months. Now the Board Meeting of the BCB approved to appoint Simon Taufel for two years.”
Simon Taufel made his debut as the umpire of One Day International (ODI) match in 1999. Simon made his debut as the umpire of Test match in 2000. He was included in the Elite Panel of umpire of ICC in 2003 for his efficiency and credibility. The former Australian cricketer was famous as one of the famous international umpire for a decade.
Simon Taufel was an umpire of Elite Panel of ICC from 2003 to 2012. He has experience to officiate all the mega events of ICC and Ashes Series. He acted as an umpire of 74 Test matches, 174 ODI matches and 34 T20I matches.
