Dhaka to host ICC global banking commission meeting in 2027

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Banking Commission, Paris, has proposed holding the ICC Global Banking Commission Meeting jointly with ICC Bangladesh in Dhaka during October-November 2027.

The proposal was accepted at the ICC Bangladesh Banking Commission Meeting held onlast week, according to a media release.

The ICC Global Banking Commission Meeting takes place annually in rotation among different countries.

The 2026 edition will be held in the United Kingdom before the global forum moves to Bangladesh the following year.

The ICC Banking Commission is one of the world’s largest trade finance forums, with over 800 members from more than 60 countries.

Its meetings are attended by representatives of multilateral development banks, regulators, public agencies, banks, supply chain finance providers, corporates, fintechs, DFIs, law firms, and insurers.

During the Dhaka meeting, the ICC Bangladesh Banking Commission reviewed its 2025 activities and finalised the Plan of Action for 2026.

The plan includes workshops for bankers, MSMEs, and women entrepreneurs, as well as seminars, roundtables, and policy dialogues on key financial issues.

It was also decided that the Commission will hold more frequent meetings to discuss crucial topics such as the impact of LDC graduation, digitalisation of international trade, and cybersecurity challenges in the banking sector.

The meeting was chaired by Muhammad A. (Rumee) Ali, Chairman of the ICC Bangladesh Banking Commission.

and attended by several leading figures from the banking and finance community, including ICC Bangladesh Secretary General Ataur Rahman, Bangladesh Bank Advisor Md. Ahsan Ullah, BASIC Bank Chairman Helal Ahmed Chowdhury, Prime Bank CEO Hassan O. Rashid, Standard Chartered Bank CCRO Mohammad Enamul Huque, and BIBM Professor Dr. Shah Md. Ahsan Habib, among others.
