Sheikh Arif Bulbon :
The ‘International Lalon Festival 2025’ is going to be held on October 19
at Queens Palace in New York, USA. The festival will be dedicated to the recently deceased Bangladeshi noted folk singer Farida Parveen.
To tribute to Farida Parveen, Bangladeshi folk singer Shahnaz Belly will sing in this festival.
Shahnaz Belly confirmed the matter from the USA yesterday.
The programme will include a special discussion, music, dance, and poetry readings centred on Fakir Lalon.
Shahnaz Belly told this correspondent from USA over social media, “I have been in the United States for quite some time now. I have already performed in several states in the United States. Among them, ‘International Lalon Festival 2025’ is a very important festival for me.
Because at this festival, I will be able to sing songs to dedicate my great respect, love, and pride of Bangladesh to the recently deceased respected Farida Parveen Apa. In the meantime, all of us who will be performing have taken part in practice. Why do I feel like this year’s Lalon Festival will be better? I hope to meet and talk with everyone on the festival day.”
Shahnaz Belly is not currently releasing any new original song. However, she will focus on releasing new original songs from next year, according to the singer.
Shahnaz Belly originally took her musical training from her father, who taught his daughter Lalon Sangeet, Marfati and Murshidi songs. This time, she is still learning different styles of Baul’s separation songs from Khurshid Alam Boyati.
While studying in Class-VIII, Belly came to Dhaka to perform at a programme at the Safipur Ansar Academy.
At that event, after Belly sang Lalon’s song titled ‘Milon Hobe Kotodine Amar Moner Manusher Sone’, the audience present was amazed to hear her singing. Ava is the only daughter of Belly.
Belly has travelled to Japan, Australia, Italy, London, America, Qatar, Dubai, and many other countries to perform music numerous times.
The actress is grateful to Dr Riazul Khondaker for helping her to learn the lyrics and pronunciations of Lalon’s song correctly.
