Gold prices in Bangladesh have been raised once again. This time, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has increased the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 3,150 per bhori, setting the new price at Tk 200,726 – the highest in the country’s history.
The information was announced in a BAJUS press release on Monday night, stating that the new rates will take effect from Tuesday (October 7). According to the statement, the price of refined (pure) gold has increased in the local market. Considering the overall situation, new rates have been set for gold.
Under the new pricing, each bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold will cost Tk 200,726. The price of 21-carat gold is Tk 191,605 per bhori, 18-carat gold is Tk 164,229 per bhori, and traditional method gold is priced at Tk 136,445 per bhori.
The statement further said that in addition to the sale price of gold, a government-mandated 5% VAT and a BAJUS-determined minimum making charge of 6% must be added. However, the making charge may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewellery.
Earlier, on October 4, BAJUS had last adjusted gold prices in the country, increasing the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,192 per bhori, setting it at Tk 197,576-which, until now, had been the highest rate in the country’s history.
At that time, the prices were Tk 188,595 for 21-carat gold, Tk 161,651 for 18-carat gold, and Tk 134,253 for traditional gold per bhori. Those rates took effect on October 5.
With this latest revision, gold prices in Bangladesh have now been adjusted 61 times in 2025 – 43 times upward and 18 times downward. In comparison, in 2024, gold prices were revised 62 times, with 35 increases and 27 decreases.
Despite the rise in gold prices, silver prices remain unchanged in the domestic market. Currently, 22-carat silver is being sold at Tk 3,628 per bhori, the highest price for silver in the country’s history.
Additionally, 21-carat silver costs Tk 3,453 per bhori, 18-carat silver costs Tk 2,963 per bhori, and traditional method silver is priced at Tk 2,228 per bhori.
