The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections will be held today at the Pan Pacific Soanargaon Hotel in the capital. The councilors will cast their votes from 10:00am to 4:00pm. After that, the counting of the votes will be held today. Besides, the elected Directors will elect the President of the BCB, most prestigious post of the any sports organisation of the country.
A total of 25 Directors will be elected by the councilors. After becoming elected as Directors, the President of the BCB will be elected by the elected Directors. The elections for the Executive Committee of the BCB used to held after four years.
The Board of Directors of the BCB come from the three categories. The 10 Directors will be elected from the seven divisional sports associations. Two Directors each will be elected from Dhaka, Chattogram and Khulna Divisions. One Director each will be elected from Rajshahi, Rangpur, Barishal and Sylhet Divisions. This is category-one.
12 Directors will be elected, who come from the clubs of the representatives of Dhaka Metropolis. One Director will be elected from former captains, cricketers and some associations. It is category-2. A total of 23 Directors will be elected in this way. Besides, two Directors will be nominated by National Sports Council. It is category-3. Aminul Islam Bulbul and Nazmul Abedin Fahim have been unopposed elected from Dhaka Division. Ahsan Iqbal Chowdhury, Asif Iqbal have been unopposed elected from Chattogram Division. Abdur Razzak, Julfikar Ali Khan have been unopposed elected from Khulna Division. Rahat Shams from Sylhet Division and Shakhawat Hossain from Barishal Division.
President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Sunday, ” I think the upcoming BCB elections will be the best elections among the all cricket boards of the whole world. When the election will be held after Bangladesh Cricket team defeated Afghanistan Cricket team and Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team beat Pakistan Women’s Cricket team in the ICC Women’s World Cup.”
Bulbul also said, ” If we want to develop our cricket, we shall improve the cricket leagues and competitions of Dhaka Division. There are seventeen districts in Dhaka Division. Of them, Kishoreganj is one of them. When I went there for election campaign, I saw they really develop their cricket. If we primarily can flourish that kind of cricket in the rest of the districts of Dhaka Division and then other districts, our cricket will go to the zenith.”
