Bayer, a global agriculture leader, and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) have partnered to expand the Better Life Farming (BLF) initiative in Bangladesh.
The program aims to empower over 1,000 agri-entrepreneurs, with at least 20per cent women-led, benefiting 250,000 smallholder farmers through training, market access, and financial services.
Better Life Farming supports smallholder farmers in developing countries to boost crop yields and incomes, targeting 100 million farmers globally by 2030. Bayer provides expertise in seeds and crop protection, while IFC focuses on financial inclusion and agri-entrepreneurship.
Natasha Santos, Head of Sustainability at Bayer, said the partnership will equip rural leaders with tools for long-term success.
Zahidul Islam, Managing Director of Bayer Crop Science Bangladesh, emphasized bringing modern farming solutions closer to farmers.
The multi-year program will scale BLF centers offering digital services, capacity building, demonstration plots, and improved market and finance linkages.
IFC’s Agribusiness Leadership Program will develop leadership and business skills among rural entrepreneurs. This collaboration strengthens sustainable, climate-smart agriculture and supports Bangladesh’s smallholder farmers, crucial to food security.
