Youth stabbed to death in Hossainpur

Sr. Staff Reporter, Kishoreganj :

A young man was stabbed to death in Hossainpur Upazila of Kishoreganj on Tuesday evening for obstructing drug consumption.

The deceased, Md. Ramel Miah (20), was the son of Md. Rafiqul Islam of Jinari village in Hossionpur Upazila.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hossionpur Police Station, Maruf Hossain, confirmed the incident. Md. Ramel died while undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital on Wednesday night.

According to police and eyewitnesses, a few days ago, Ramel, who was a drug user, posted a status on Facebook urging Naeem, son of Lal Miah from Tentulia village in Hossionpur Upazila, not to consume drugs.
This led to a dispute between them.

A few days later, when some drug users were consuming marijuana in the Jinari area, Ramel stopped them from doing so, which led to further arguments. At one point, the drug users threatened to take Ramel away.

Later, on Tuesday evening, Ramel was found alone on the road while returning home after playing cricket at the local field.

He was stabbed by the assailants. When bystanders screamed, the attackers fled the scene. Locals and family members rescued him in a critical condition and first took him to Gafargaon Hospital.

However, as his condition worsened, the doctors referred him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where the duty doctor declared him dead that night.
