‘Employment for 10m people within 18 months’

Tangail, Correspondent :

BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has announced that the party has prepared a plan to create employment for 10 million people within 18 months if voted into power.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday evening during a visit to the Puja Mandap near Kumudini Hospital in Mirzapur, Tangail, Khasru said:
“We have taken up a comprehensive employment plan. If the people give us the mandate, we will revive lost industrial jobs and create new employment opportunities.

We have also formulated detailed strategies for promoting self-employment in various sectors and outlined how these will be implemented.

“Addressing a question on the proportional representation (PR) system, Khasru stated:
“Anyone can demand PR that is their democratic right. But it is not for the BNP or any individual party to grant it.

If the demand extends beyond national consensus, then it must go before the people, and a fresh mandate must be sought through elections to bring the issue before Parliament.”

On the forthcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, he remarked: “There is no alternative to holding the election in February. The country needs a government and a parliament that are accountable to the people.

Without that bridge between the state and its citizens, we face grave challenges in governance.”Khasru was accompanied by BNP’s former MP Abul Kalam Azad Siddiqui, Assistant Secretary for Cultural Affairs Saidur Rahman Said Sohrab, Tangail District BNP President Hasanuzzamil Shaheen, and General Secretary Advocate Farhad Iqbal.
