Sources said, 30 rounds of ammunition along with belongings of police officers on duty at the Nimtali Mahadev Ashram and Kali Temple in Badda has been stolen.

The matter was confirmed by multiple sources within the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
According to DMP Headquarters, accommodation had been arranged for the police force deployed at the Sri Sri Mahadev Ashram and Kali Temple in Badda inside a room on the second floor of an under-construction building within the temple compound. Between approximately 4:30 am and 5:30 am on Tuesday, while four police officers and three Ansar members were asleep, four bags, two wallets, and three mobile phones were stolen from beside them. One of the bags contained 30 rounds of shotgun ammunition. Later, around 9:45 am, the bags were recovered near a fallow plot of land adjacent to the temple premises.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DMP’s Gulshan Division, Md Tarek Mahmud, said that due to negligence of duty, Badda Police Station’s Sub-Inspector Mobashwir, one Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), and five constables were temporarily suspended. In the same incident, Badda Police Station’s OC, Md Saiful Islam, was withdrawn.

He further said that the stolen belongings and ammunition of the police force deployed at the Sri Sri Mahadev Ashram and Kali Temple had been recovered. However, it was clearly a case of negligence of duty, and therefore, action has been taken against all involved.
