Muktijoddha unit command inaugurated

At the inauguration of the convening committee of Jessore Sadar Upazila Muktijoddha Unit Command and the prayer for the deceased and sick heroic freedom fighters, Deputy Commissioner Azharul Islam said that the biggest weapon during the Liberation War was unity.

There was unity among people of all religions, castes and nationalities. Unity was the main foundation of victory.

The purpose of the Liberation War was the liberation of the countrymen. Due to the politics of division, the countrymen have not been liberated even in 54 years. If equality, independence and dignity are achieved, the countrymen will be liberated.

He said these things in his speech as the chief guest at the program organized at the Sadar Upazila Muktijoddha Complex Building on Saturday morning.

Abdul Latif, Convener of Jessore District Muktijoddha Parliament, was the special guest, presided over by Sharmin Akhter, Executive Officer of Jessore Sadar Upazila Parishad.

Also spoke at the event were freedom fighter Golam Rasul, while the seven-member convening committee of the Sadar Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad was announced.

Freedom fighter Nazrul Islam was the convener, freedom fighter Amirul Islam was the joint convener, and freedom fighter Abul Khair was the member secretary.

Freedom fighter SM Shahidullah, freedom fighter Nur Mohammad, freedom fighter Ishahak, and freedom fighter Mosaddek Hossain were the members of the convening committee.

In the president’s speech at the event, Sadar Upazila Parishad Executive Officer Sharmin Akhter addressed the freedom fighters and said that you are the sun children of the country and you are the best children of the country.

He further said that just as you risked your lives in 1971 to put Bangladesh on the world map, you will all remain united to take the country forward.
