Dhaka Metro earn slim win

Dhaka Metro earned a slim 23-run win over hosts Sylhet Division in their match of the NCL T20 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

Electing to bat first, Dhaka Metro piled up a satisfactory 161 for the loss of three wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then restricted Sylhet Division to 138 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.

Dhaka Metro had a solid start with two openers Mahfijul Islam Robin and Naim Sheikh put on together 45 runs in the opening stand before Robin (18) was dismissed by Nabil Samad.

After Robin’s dismissal, Naim Sheikh could not stay at the crease for a long period as he was dismissed by Asadullah Al Galib when Dhaka Metro’s total was 58 for the loss of two wickets.

Naim Sheikh hit a captain’s knock of 36. His 32-ball innings studded with four fours and a sixer.

After Naim’s departure, one-down Shadman Islam and second-down Aich Mollah rescued their team from disaster after scoring together 96 runs for the third wicket partnership before Shadman Islam was dismissed by Ebadot Hossain when Dhaka Metro’s score was 154 for the loss of three wickets.

Shadman Islam notched up a superb 49. His 32-ball knock was laced with four fours and two sixes.

Aich Mollah remained unbeaten with 53. He hit six fours and two sixes in his 33-ball innings. Aich Mollah picked up one wicket conceding 30 runs. He was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Ebadot Hossain, Asadulla Al Galib and Nabil Samad picked up one wicket each giving 23, 24 and 24 runs respectively.

Later, Amite Hasan, Khalid Hasan, Asadulla Al Galib and Zakir Hasan fought back against the fine bowling attack of Dhaka Metro.
Amite Hasan hit a polished 24. His 16-ball innings was laced with two sixes.

Khalid Hasan made 24 from 23 deliveries featuring two fours and a sixer.
Asadulla Al Galib scored 23 from 14 balls including two fours and a sixer.

Shohidul Islam captured three wickets in the space of 24 runs, while Abu Hider Rony, Maruf Mridha claimed a pair of wickets each instead of 25 and 29 runs respectively.

Rakibul Hasan got one wicket for 29 runs. Meanwhile, in the day’s other match at the same venue, Dhaka Division defeated Rajshahi Division by 28 runs.

Batting first Dhaka Division made 150 for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs and then restricted Rajshahi Division to 122 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.

Mahidul Islam Ankon of Dhaka Division hit a captain’s knock of 35. His 20-ball innings was laced with four sixes.

Opener Rayan Rafsan made 32 from 30 deliveries with three fours and a six.

Sabbir Hosan and Asaduzzaman Payel bagged two wickets each for nine and 28 runs.

Later, SM Meherob Hasan shone with the willow making 31 from 29 deliveries with two sixes and one four.

Sumon Khan and Taibur Rahman plucked two wickets each in lieu of 21 and 25 runs respectively.
