16.7pc growth of remittance inflow till Sept 28

The inflow of remittances witnessed a significant year-on-year growth of 16.7 percent through the first 28 days of September.

According to the latest data, issued by the Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Monday, the total inflow of remittances reached US$2.465 billion during this period. This represents a notable increase compared to the previous year, when the country’s remittance inflow stood at $2.11 billion during the same time frame. The growth trend is also reflected in the cumulative figures for the current fiscal year. During the period from July to September 28, 2025, expatriates sent remittances totaling $7.36 billion. This performance surpasses the figures from the same period in the previous fiscal year, which saw remittances amounting to $6.25 billion.

Earlier, Remittance inflow through banking channels surpassed $2 billion in the first 21 days of September, marking a 24.3 per cent year-on-year rise.
Until 21 September, Bangladeshi expatriates sent home $2 billion, compared to $1.63 billion during the same period last year.

Remittance has remained on an upward trend since the beginning of 2025, with March witnessing an all-time monthly high of $3.29 billion, the highest ever recorded in the country’s history.
