Sylhet tourism getting momentum

S A Shofiee, Sylhet :

The riverside tourist centers in all the border areas of Sylhet are a unique picture of natural beauty.

The greenery and the sound of clear water attract travelers from home and abroad.

The important tourist centers, especially the 6 spots in the northeastern part of Sylhet, are easily accessible and the environment is as it is.

The buzz of the master plan was heard during the Awami League government, but it did not see the light of day.

During the current interim government, the issue of its rationality, feasibility, and environment-friendly master plan has been brought to the attention.

The current government has undertaken a long-term master plan to develop 6 tourist centers from Sadapathar to Jaflong, full of natural beauty, as international tourism hubs.

This master plan has been taken with the aim of upgrading it to an international standard tourist destination, enriching the local economy and creating employment opportunities.

On Thursday, members of the Tourism Master Plan Committee visited the Bholaganj Sadapathar Tourist Center and told reporters these things.

The committee members said that a long-term and sustainable master plan has been adopted.

Through which natural beauty will be preserved, employment will be created for locals and international tourists will be able to have a better experience.

The main goal of this master plan is to develop tourism, ensure modern facilities and create employment.

They also said that according to the master plan, there will be a clear outline for developing improved road connectivity, accommodation, health and safety services, cleanliness and information service centers for tourists.

Local culture and agriculture will be highlighted to attract foreign tourists. At the same time, emphasis will also be given to the ‘eco-tourism’ and ‘community-based tourism’ models.

The committee chairperson, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources, Dr. A. N. M. Bazlur Rashid, led by BUET Professor AKM Saiful Islam, former Principal Wildlife Specialist of Dubai Safari Park Dr. Mohammad Ali Reza Khan, Chief Architect of Satat Architecture for Green Living Professor Rafiq Azam.

Dean of Asia Pacific University and President of IAB Professor Dr. Abu Sayeed M Ahmed, Founder and Chief Architect of Volume Zero Limited Mohammad Faiz Ullah, Architect Asif Imran Khan, visited the tourist center and collected various information and data at the field level including the current situation, environmental challenges and the standard of living of the local people.
