Dhaka Bank PLC has officially launched the country’s first AI-powered digital loan service, the “eRin Device APP”, designed to make smartphones and smart devices more affordable and accessible to service professionals, micro-entrepreneurs, and underserved communities.
The app was launched on September 24, 2025, at a ceremony jointly inaugurated by A K M Shahnawaj, Managing Director (Current Charge) of Dhaka Bank PLC, and Jungmin Jung, Head of Bangladesh Branch, Samsung Electronics, according to a press release.
The event was attended by leaders from the financial and telecom sectors, including Md. Iqbal Mohasin, Director of the Financial Inclusion Department at Bangladesh Bank; Mahmud Hossain, Commissioner of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC); Taimur Rahman, Chief Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Officer of Banglalink; Mohammad Syfuddin Tipu.
, Executive Director of Excel Telecom Pvt. Limited; Dr. Sarwar Jahan Morshed, PhD, Managing Director of Infinia Tech Limited; along with senior officials of Dhaka Bank.
Speaking at the launch, Shahnawaj said: “The eRin Device is more than just a loan-it is a gateway to digital empowerment, enabling connectivity, education, and entrepreneurship for the unbanked and underserved.”
Jungmin Jung of Samsung Electronics noted that the collaboration will eliminate traditional credit barriers and soon be available at selected Samsung-authorized stores. Taimur Rahman of Banglalink said the initiative will accelerate smartphone penetration and digital adoption, while Tipu of Excel Telecom emphasized flexible Samsung device financing for consumers. Dr. Morshed of Infinia Tech highlighted the fusion of AI, FinTech innovation, and inclusive lending in the platform.
Through the eRin Device Financing service, customers can purchase smartphones or smart devices with a small down payment and repay via easy monthly installments. The process is paperless, fast, and fully digital, available through Dhaka Bank’s mobile app and nationwide branches.
