Joy Shahriar’s new album ‘Boka’

Entertainment Report :

Musician Joy Shahriar is coming out with a solo album after six years. The title is ‘Boka’. This is Joy’s fifth studio album. The first song from this album, ‘Tomake Bhulate Somoy Lagbe’, was recently released.

Joy Shahriar, in addition to providing vocals, has composed the lyrics and tune of the song.

Joy said that the last line of the chorus of the song ‘Tomke Bhulate Somoy Lagbe’ is taken from the poem ‘Tomake Bhulate Arektu Somoy Lagbe Aamar’ by the late poet and producer Abul Hossain Khokon. The song is
dedicated to him too.

Joy Shahriar said, “Abul Hossain Khokon is one of the few people outside of my family who have contributed to my current position as an artiste. Even though everyone called him brother, I called him Uncle.

The first day I read this poem of my Uncle’s, I liked it immensely. I told him, ‘Make a song lyric from this.’ Uncle said, ‘Make it your way.’

Uncle Khokon passed away. But that line remained in my mind. One night in May, while composing a song, this line of poetry came together. A new song was created.”

The ‘Boka’ album will have eight songs. Some of the song titles are – ‘Tomake Bhulate Somoy Lagbe’, ‘Dukkho Elegy’, ‘Ekla Thakar Gaan’, ‘Baba’, ‘Swapno Protarito’ etc. The lyrics and tunes of all the songs are written by Joy Shahriar.

The album features Tanim Hasan and Maruf-ul Haque playing bass guitar, Mahan Fahim, Ahnaf Khan Anik, Antu Das and Michael Prabhu Das on guitar, Rafiqul Islam Farhad on keyboard and Jalal Ahmed playing flute. Sound design is by Amjad Hossain Bappi.

Joy Shahriar said that the songs of the ‘Boka’ album will be released together on audio streaming platforms next November. In addition, this album will also be available in CD form.
