Staff Correspondent :

The construction work of a proposed eco park project has officially begun on the banks of the Meghna River near Bishnandi Ferry Ghat in Araihazar, Narayanganj.

The project, initiated by the district administration with support from the upazila administration, was inaugurated on Thursday (September 25) by Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mia.

Present at the foundation-laying ceremony were Araihazar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sheikh Md. Mamunur Rashid, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Naeem Uddin, Upazila Engineer Saiful Islam, and several other officials.

Deputy Commissioner Zahidul Islam Mia said that for the last 70 years, government land along the Meghna in Bishnandi had been illegally occupied by a group of people.

With the cooperation of the upazila administration, the land was reclaimed.

He added that the eco park is being developed to preserve natural beauty and provide recreational opportunities for the public.

Once completed, the park will not only promote eco-friendly tourism but also become an attractive destination for residents across Narayanganj district.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner also visited several puja mandaps in Araihazar municipality, where he distributed rice and cheques to mandap presidents and general secretaries on the occasion of Durga Puja.
