Police have recovered the body of a child named Tasnia Khatun (10) in Khetlal Upazila of Joypurhat, three days after she went missing.
The incident took place at around 8 pm on Friday in Shalbon village of Bartara Union of the upazila.
The deceased child, Tasnia Khatun, is the daughter of Ershadul Islam of Shalbon village in Bartara union of the upazila and is a third-grade student of Sunrise Kindergarten, a private educational institution.
According to police and local sources, Tasnia Khatun went missing from her home on Wednesday (September 17).
After that, the family searched for her in various places but could not find her.
Later, the police recovered the child’s body wrapped in a sack from the cowshed of the house of neighbor Ekramul Islam. When the incident came to light, Ekramul fled.
However, the villagers blocked a woman from her house and handed her over to the law enforcement agencies.
The child’s body was recovered from the scene and sent to the hospital for autopsy.
Law enforcement agencies have arrested two women, including Ekramul Islam’s wife, in this incident.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khetlal Police Station A. Karim said that they were arrested with the help of villagers. The maximum punishment will be ensured in the incident as per the law.
