Remittance inflow sees steady growth in Sept

Business Report :

Bangladesh’s remittance inflow has continued its upward momentum, with a strong year-on-year growth observed in September 2025. According to the latest figures released by Bangladesh Bank (BB), expatriates sent home $1,306 million in the first 13 days of September, reflecting a 13.5 per cent increase compared to $1,150 million received during the same period last year.

From July 1 to September 13 of the current fiscal year, the country accumulated $6,205 million in remittances, significantly higher than $5,288 million during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. This steady growth highlights the resilience of remittance earnings, which have become one of Bangladesh’s most reliable sources of foreign currency amid global economic challenges.

In August 2025, remittance inflows reached $2.42 billion, up 9 per cent from $2.22 billion a year earlier. Despite this positive year-on-year growth, August’s inflow was 2.22 per cent lower than July, when Bangladesh received $2.47 billion.

The moderation in growth is notable when compared with recent months, where inflows rose by 30 per cent in July, 11 per cent in June, 32 per cent in May, and an impressive 34.6 per cent in April. Still, between July and August alone, Bangladesh recorded $4.9 billion in remittances, up 18.4 per cent from $4.13 billion in the same period of the last fiscal year.

Bangladesh’s remittance sector has shown remarkable development in recent years. In the fiscal year 2024-25, inflows crossed $30 billion for the first time, marking a record rise of $6.4 billion compared to the previous year.
