Hasina’s Pubali Bank locker seized

The Central Intelligence Cell (CIC) of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Wednesday seized a bank locker belonging to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, who fled the country during the July 2024 Uprising.

According to a senior CIC official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the locker-numbered 128-is housed at the Motijheel corporate branch of Pubali Bank. He added that the contents will be examined later following due legal process.

Investigators also discovered a joint savings account at the same branch under the names of Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana, with a balance of Tk 44 lakh. In addition, an FDR in Sheikh Hasina’s individual name was found, holding Tk 12 lakh.

The CIC official further stated, “We are investigating her accounts in other banks as well. This is only the information obtained from one institution so far.”
