‘Magic Bauliana Season 5’ begins

‘Magic Bauliana 2025’ has started again to explore new talent in Bengali folk music and ensure proper evaluation of artists. The fifth season of this competition, organized by the Sun Foundation and sponsored by Square Toiletries Limited, is being broadcast on Maasranga Television, said a press release.

The Sun Foundation’s journey began with the goal of preserving the tradition of Bengali folk music, creating an archive for future generations, and ensuring the rights and royalties of artists. This year’s festival has been organised in that vein.

More than 38,000 contestants from all over the country have registered for this season as of August 22. The first audition round was held at the Kushtia District Shilpakala Academy on August 29. The Shilpakala Academy premises were filled with the songs of the contestants during this day-long audition.

The judges present at the audition were Kamruzzaman Rabbi, Pagla Bablu, Tuntun Baul, Sandipan, Shafiul Badsha and Diti Sarkar. The judges evaluated the melody, rhythm, melody, presentation and posture and awarded ‘magic cards’ to four artists. The four artistes selected for the Dhaka Mega Selection Round are Rajni Khatun, Jakib Ahmed Prince, Antyami Haldar Swapna and Salma Sargam.

A total of 40 artists selected from all over the country will participate in the mega selection round in Dhaka. Viewers will be able to watch the event on Maasranga Television. Mediacom Limited and Bishwarang are the creative and event partners of the event and wardrobe partner.
